Announcement of New Program Director for Summer Bonanza Partnership, Incorporated 2015


Angelia Dorsey hails from Augusta, Georgia and is a graduate of Savannah State University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice. She excelled to accomplish her Master's Degree in Public Administration from Columbus State University. Ms. Dorsey retired as a Program Manager from the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office, after 31 years of dedicated service.

In Savannah, Georgia Ms. Dorsey is an active member of Overcoming by Faith Ministries and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated, where she values giving back. Throughout her many noteworthy accomplishments, Ms. Dorsey holds motherhood dear to her heart as she adores her beautiful daughter, Ariuna Dorsey.

Angelia Dorsey would like to publicly acknowledge Dr. Priscilla Thomas for the solid foundation she laid for the Summer Bonanza Program and her sturdy shoulders to stand upon. Ms. Dorsey thanks Dr. Thomas for her support, guidance, mentoring, and above all her friendship!

Chatham Summer Bonanza,
Stem to Stream Activity



Hours of Operation:
Summer Bonanza program begins at the close of Chatham County Public Schools, for the summer break and concludes as the public schools reopen, usually in August. When funding is available the program provides monthly interaction to assist the participants in tutorial, community involvement, and peer engagement. Our normal hours of operation are 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon at a local community center. The Liberty City Community Center currently serves as our main hub, located at 1401 Mills Lane Blvd, Savannah, Ga. 31401.

Administrators and Sponsors:
The Summer Bonanza program is sponsored in part by Chatham County and relies on community partners for sustainability: corporate sponsorship, financial donations, in-kind services to include educational facilitation, and support of fundraisers. The Advisory Board is composed of business leaders, community representatives, and local volunteers, of which we hold sincere gratitude. Program Features:
The Summer Bonanza Program exposes children to STEM learning, balance living, positive relationships to include judicial and law enforcement officers, and servant leadership. The goal of the program is to strengthen core values and academic success while providing a fun and safe environment for structured activities. Summer Bonanza Volunteers undergo a criminal background check. Risk Management provides safety training in Multi-Media First Aid and CPR. An orientation in child safety and program guidelines is also conducted. Both adult and junior volunteers serve as mentors by providing positive reinforcement for educational, personal, and professional development.
